Stars tutorial - 2006/02/21 02:12
If you want to make stars, it can't be done because you need a 10-sided panel, and CL only goes up to 8, right? No, there is a way.
The secret is simple, but the execution can be a little tricky.
1. Drag a panel into your comic, click the irregular box and choose five sides. You may want to turn on the grid. Make sure the frames box is clicked.
2. Pick the top point of your star.
3. The easiest way to explain this is you're going to draw a star like you would on paper. Start at the top, and drag the next anchor point to the the southeast point of the star. Then drag the next clockwise point to the west point of the star, then east, then southwest (see first example).
Depending on orientation, size, perspective, etc, you probably will have to eye it. If your star is perpendicular to the horizontal plane, you can use the grid to make that line straight and it helps a great deal (the top point would be half as many blocks between the furthest east and west points).
While it's true that you lose having a frame around your star, you can copy your star, change the color and create a larger star behind to give the illusion of a frame (see second example). The coolest thing is even though lines of the panel cross, images inserted into the panel fill the whole panel, so you have a star-shaped panel for your photo or drawing (see third example).
