We are delighted to offer a beta of our upcoming Comic Life Magiq 1.0.3 update.
It has numerous stability and significant performance improvements over 1.0.2.1 - so we would love previous users to download and let us know if you come across any issues.
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.
Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...
This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.
If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".
Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.

Thanks for the suggestions.
We will definitely take them on board for future development.

I agree that Comic Life should justify text to the shape of the balloon, especially if the balloon is elliptical or an irregular shape.
If you want musical notes, they can be found in the Mac's Character Palette, under Miscellaneous Symbols. Not all fonts contain musical notes, of course.

For cussing, you will want to look here at a cussing font!
The main problem I see when using comic life is with the text spacing relative to the edges of the bubble. It can take a lot of minor tweeking of the bubble size to keep the text letters from overlapping the bubble edge. Justifying the text doesn't really do what you would expect... it doesn't space the text to keep a constant distance to the edge of the bubble, but rather it doesn the NOT USEFUL thing of justifying to a RECTANGLE shape even inside an OVAL shape. I really don't even know why you bothered to add the justify if all it does is force the text block to look like a rectangle. When it cuts text it doesn't automatically hyphenate where it wraps the text to the next line, in a long word. So, I think this product would be a lot more useful if the resulting text spacing came closer to approximating what you can do by hand spacing; a nice little space between the text and the bubble with NEVER and overlap, and something to prevent big empty space on some lines, which looks really dorky. Or at least some way to go in and manually tidy up the sloppy way that it automatically lays out the text.
The other thing that would be a great addition would be a panel of special characters that could be added in from a click-to-pick menu list. For example, music notes to symbolize whistling, or a bunch of #%*&*)&!? for cussing, or other characters hard to find using the keyboard.
I LOVE the product, keep up the good work, and I just home the text spacing gets improved to make this thing REALLY REALLY good!
