Hi there autodidactic,
Unfortunately we can't seem to replicate your problem here on a similar setup. 
My only guess is that it's a corrupted application file, somehow? maybe try re-installing it?
Otherwise perhaps you can post the Console log that is generated on crash for us here or to support at plasq.com?
More detailed steps for Console:
1. Open the Console application (use Spotlight if you can't find it),
2. Using the mouse cursor, select the text that shows up (if any) and copy (Edit -> Copy - from menu)
3. Then quit Console, by clicking on Console -> Quit Console (from menu at top)
4. Paste (Edit -> Paste) your previously copied log into email.
This may help us track down the problem. Do you have the latest drivers for your audio hardware (sometimes the drivers on the CD are quite out of date)
