how to connect 3 machines? - 2008/10/22 17:06 How can I connect 3 machines together?
When I connect 3 machines together, can I play Reason on the first machine and play Ivory on the second machine and use the other one to record all of them at the same time?

Re:how to connect 3 machines? - 2008/12/16 15:12 I think that should be possible. All you need is a proper Lan connection between all three systems using a LAN switch/router.
If you can copy files across all three computers you are fine. You also need three VST host applications for the respective systems and you are ready to go.

when installed correctly, WH2 will show up as a VST plugin in each host.

1.All you need to do now is insert WH2 in the transmitting applications(reason & Ivory) output/master buss and select the direct mode and set it to start(blue dot) don't use the Fx insert chain.

2.Now add appropriate channel names for the two WH2 instances(reason & Ivory respectively)

3.Now In you recording system create two audio tracks, one each for Reason and Ivory. Insert an instance of WH2 in each track... then select the appropriate channel names by clicking the "chooser" dropdown button (eg reason end/ Ivory end).

4.Hit your channels monitoring button and play reason/ivory... You should hear their audio coming through. now record as usual!

Hope this helps.

Cheeers!

Re:how to connect 3 machines? - 2008/12/16 15:38 BTW I am asuming, that the three systems are properly configured to send and recieve midi data from each other.(remember WH2 is audio only)

you can either do that by physically connecting them via hardware midi interfaces and cables or use some thing like I do... Musiclab midi over lan(do a google on that)
