Comic Life 1.5.1 OS X 10.4 Tiger users
PLEASE NOTE: Users running OS X 10.4 Tiger, and recently updated to Comic Life 1.5.1 - and are having crashing issues, please read below:

An issue has occurred with Comic Life 1.5.1 for users running OS X 10.4 Tiger where dragging images or loading documents with images is crashing the application.

For those of you that have updated, you may go back to 1.5 by downloading here.

We have now pulled the 1.5.1 update and are looking into the issue - we will release a 1.5.2 update to fix the issues as soon as we can.

We are very sorry for this issue and offer our sincerest apologies.

Comic Life Magiq 1.1 for Mac!
A Comic Life Magiq for Mac 1.1 update has now been released.

This free 1.1 upate adds the much-requested ability to import Comic Life .comicdoc files.

It also has a few more Snow Leopard compatibility fixes we missed the first time and several other minor improvements.

Please update from within Comic Life Magiq or from our downloads page.

 Eraser Tool Behavior? - 2009/10/24 04:37 I'm evaluating Skitch. Recently switched (back) to the Mac and am looking for something that has integrated touchup/markup of screen shots. Skitch fits most of my needs.

I did a number of common use tests last night and was a little confused by the behavior of the Eraser tool. I found that it would eraser markup that I had added to the screen shot (Words, Arrows, etc.) but would not allow me to erase the original screen shot image in cases where I might not want to show personal information. Is that standard behavior, or operator error on my part? I looked in the docs but couldn't find anything.

 Re:Eraser Tool Behavior? - 2009/10/26 21:28 Apologies for bumping my original question, but is it intentional that the Eraser tool will not erase pixels in the original screenshot, but only markup (text, arrows, etc.) that has been added later via the Skitch drawing tools?

Yes, that's intentional. Skitch is just for marking up what you bring in. In the event that there's personal information you want to remove, you can place a black rectangle over that content. As long as you export as a flat file (like PNG, GIF or TIFF) that rectangle goes along with it. If you export as a .skitch file, then whoever receives it will be able to move the vector rectangle and see your content.

Another possible solution (to make sure it's not there in Skitch at all) is to utilize Preview's ability to edit content. Open the image in Preview, remove the content you don't want, then copy and paste into Skitch.
