Re:Great App -- Too pricey - 2005/04/16 04:42
$20 or I'm walking. I have a short attention span these days. Great product, overpriced, interested in purchasing it. But if the price is $40, I'm walking. I have many tools in my toolbox. This could be a good one. But, $40 is way too high for a tool like this. If you want my purchase, agree to my price of $20 for personal (non-business) use. If I dropped $50 for every interesting app I've seen, I would only be able to afford a Dell. If you don't want my purchase, I'm gone. Simple as that. Everthing is negotiable.
Let me give you an example. A certain game was recently released. The price was $40. I thought the product was overpriced. I waited. I waited and waited some more. Found the same product 2 months after release for $20. Bought it, kids are happy. Same game, half price. Simple as that.
I am a heavy iLife 04 user. Fact is, I haven't upgraded to iLife 05. Why? Cost is higher than perceived value. iLife 04 is rock solid and I am very productive. What real value to get with iLife 05 over iLife 04? What is new in iLife 05? Product is way too expensive at ~$75 or whatever.
Just flew to Vegas. Got a car rental via Priceline for $17 bucks a day. Got a hotel via Priceline for $50 bucks a night. Normal booking charge was $150 bucks. I thought the cost/value ratio was out of balance so I offered less. The hotel and car rental company accepted my offer. Everything is negotiable.
