We are delighted to offer a beta of our upcoming Comic Life Magiq 1.0.3 update.
It has numerous stability and significant performance improvements over 1.0.2.1 - so we would love previous users to download and let us know if you come across any issues.
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.
Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...
This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.
If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".
Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.
Comic Life is great for sharing those funny little moments from school, in the office, or while on worldwide progressive-rock-legends tours.
Robert Fripp and Tony Levin have been sharing the day-to-day stories of touring within one of the most influential prog rock bands - on King Crimson’s 40th Anniversary Tour.
Ever wished you had the fun of Comic Life handy at all times? Ever been out at a party, family gathering or on public transport and wished you could add your 'comic touch' to a photo? Now you can!
We're giggling with glee to announce Comic Touch for iPhone and iPod Touch. Add various speech balloons and captions to your photos. Choose a fun special effect to warp and bend your family and friends, then email the results to them!
Paper sizes? - 2005/04/20 07:37Comic Life Is excellent. It is basically the exact thing I have been looking for. Thank you. I am just wondering if there is, or will be in the future, a 13"x19" paper size compatibilty? My printer supports up to 13x19 borderless, and that is the size I plan on printing out the pages.
If I save the file out as JPEG and print it with another program, I lose those beautiful vector graphics.
If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it greatly.
Custom paper sizes are on the to-do list. I can put in a special 13x19 size (apparently it's called "Super B") into page types list that'll be available in 1.0.1 which should be released very shortly.
Re:Paper sizes? - 2005/04/20 11:02It'd be nifty if we could specify our own page sizes (more useful for web toons) - perhaps via some xml-hackery at first ?
I am trying to match the toons I made in Flash and then exported.
Unfortunately custom page sizes are not going to be in 1.0.1 - time ran out because of some other things that needed to be addressed sooner. But it is right at the top of the list now for 1.0.2.
However if you want to get your hands dirty you can add the page size you need. To do so you'll have to crack open the package and look for a file in the English.lproj resources called "PageTypes.plist".
What follows is not for the faint of heart! This is described in fairly terse terms deliberately!
Open that file and copy an page type entry (from dict to /dict ) and paste it in. Change its name (don't mess with any of the fields and the fields that follow them otherwise Comic Life won't be able to understand the file. Change the page size string field to be the width and height you need and the name to something recognizable by you.
Finally save the file and copy it somewhere outside of the package for safe keeping.
You should be able to access your new page size the next time you start Comic Life.

Genius! - I am there =)

T'is ok .. I occasionally try my hands at code cutting so you could say I have blood on my shirts from messing with the guts of these things.
Actually The PropertyListEditor included with the dev tools in OSX does this nicely as well (if you don't want to break out something like subEthaEdit or BBEdit)

Hope that helps,
It sure did, thanks Robert. Awesome stuff. While we're there - I note that there are the localisation strings etc in there as well. Are you guys opposed to having user submitted translations =) ?
Re:Paper sizes? - 2005/04/22 08:41I'm not averse to a little plist tinkering either, so I'll give the DIY approach a shot myself...but it would be really unbelievably super cool if the standard dimensions of a modern US printed comic book were one of the available options by default.
Those dimensions are:
6.625" x 10.25”
...with a live picture area of 6" x 9” and margins of 0.5” (or 36 points) on top, 0.75” (54p) bottom, and .3125” (22.5p) on each side.
If you do this, I'll name my future children plasq, Robert, and Atariboy.
