We are delighted to offer a beta of our upcoming Comic Life Magiq 1.0.3 update.
It has numerous stability and significant performance improvements over 1.0.2.1 - so we would love previous users to download and let us know if you come across any issues.
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.
Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...
This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.
If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".
Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.
Comic Life is great for sharing those funny little moments from school, in the office, or while on worldwide progressive-rock-legends tours.
Robert Fripp and Tony Levin have been sharing the day-to-day stories of touring within one of the most influential prog rock bands - on King Crimson’s 40th Anniversary Tour.
Ever wished you had the fun of Comic Life handy at all times? Ever been out at a party, family gathering or on public transport and wished you could add your 'comic touch' to a photo? Now you can!
We're giggling with glee to announce Comic Touch for iPhone and iPod Touch. Add various speech balloons and captions to your photos. Choose a fun special effect to warp and bend your family and friends, then email the results to them!
Great app - but... - 2005/04/16 21:25Hi, Comic Life is a geat app - I think I could lose myself in it. Anyway, here are some things I have notived which I think need looking at. I was hoping to lob these to a support email address, but I can't find one on the plasq site, so I'll post them here in the hope the someone at plasq reads them.
I like a lot of this app - the iPhoto integration is great - I like the fact that my images are in a small pane in the UI - very useful. I know this is Version 1 - and it's great already. In the day or so that I've been playing with this software, I've noticed a few issues that if fixed will make Comic Life better.
1 - Saving as HTML. When I save as HTML, the default folder name is this: My Comic.comic - if I save this to the same location as the origoinal comic file, the original can overwritten! Doh! The default file name in the HTML export needs to lose the .comic extension, so it's just saved as a folder
2 - I find the windows opened by the comic thumbnails in the HTML a bit too small, and I have to resize the window to get to the navigation windows. A tweak in the HTML output should fix this.
3 - I'd like to be able to export to Photoshop / TIFF / 24-buit PNG in the Export window, with dimension and ppi settings. I know you offer JPEG, but that's lossy and I'd like my whites to be, well, white
4 - I'd like the option to be able to choose a page size when I start a new document, not in the preferences as page dimensions may change from comic to comic (unless I'm missing this somewhere).
5 - The .Mac publishing is great - is there a way to publish to a sub-folder in the .Mac structure? I already have a site on my .Mac account, and I don't want to over-write it with any comics I produce.

Posts from hairy daleks? Sure we'll read them! But what is a hairy dalek anyway?

Thought this bug had been nailed - but will have another look. Definitely should be an alert if you're exporting to an existing folder.

Understood - we're hoping for this to be in 1.0.1

Once you create a new comic you can change the page size in the "Format->Comic" menu. I think this will (should have been) move to the File menu. 5 - The .Mac publishing is great - is there a way to publish to a sub-folder in the .Mac structure? I already have a site on my .Mac account, and I don't want to over-write it with any comics I produce.
Comic Life publishes to a special folder called comiclife in your .Mac Sites folder so should not interfere with your regular .Mac content.

Just to add to hairydalek's suggestion on page size...(I forgot to mention this before) Could there be an "Other" option which would allow one to create a specifically sized image by pixels?
I always think in terms of pixel size of images no matter whether they are intended for print or screen. To me, your choices under Format > Comic have no meaning presently, although they will with practice, of course.

FTP would be nice too - so we aren't restricted to .Mac from within your interface.
Thanks for the feedback.
Robert.
That's OK. Glad to get such a quick response. Thanks!
