Comic Life Magiq 1.0.2.1 update released
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.

Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...

This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.

If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".

Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.

Re:Comic Life won't re-open comics prope - 2007/05/25 15:43 Leith, thanks for sending that through.

The comic you sent through is definitely related to the PPC/Intel issue. Where if a file was created on a PPC Mac and opened on an Intel Mac the file would not load properly. I take it you have just got some new Intel-type Mac's in the last few weeks?

This has been fixed in 1.3.3 - where all NEW files are transferable between both PPC and Intel Mac's.

However, this can be solved - if you resave the .comic file on the original type processor it was created in (or in rosetta emulation). The file I attached was fixed by opening up the File in Rosetta mode (on Intel Mac) and resaving in the .comicdoc format. This can now be opened up on both PPC Mac's and Intel Mac's.

So to solve the problems, you need to do this for the original .comic files -- open on native processor and resave to .comicdoc format.

Please try with the file you sent me to see what I mean...

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you need anymore information.

Re:Comic Life won't re-open comics prope - 2007/05/30 06:08 As I recall, we originally had trial versions of 1.2.. I updated them to 1.3.3, and then entered the registration code.

I'll try to hunt down a file that has the problem. Any solutions so far?

Re:Comic Life won't re-open comics prope - 2007/05/30 06:14 The PPC-Intel issue could well be the source of my problems as well.. students submitted the comics from a variety of machines (I don't have any way to know). However, all of the machines that I'm trying to open the comics with are non-Intel.. is there any way I can make them work from there?

Sorry - if the file was created on an Intel machine, it has to be opened on an Intel machine (created 1.2.x).
There is no work-around in this situation.

Apologies I can't be of anymore help -- unless you want me to try opening one of your comics up on an intel Mac? Contact us using the contact page.

Thanks!
