Hi Rob,
Shadows are available on text, but not on other shapes at this stage. Maybe you saw them somewhere else, like Omnigraffle?

Ah, I see, I don't think this was in the app, but I don't have an old build to check with. I know it can't be done now and I believe I sent it as a feature request through the app awhile back.

Under the "Image" menu, choose "Add shadow to image".
That adds a drop shadow to the entire image.
Rob (and I) want to add drop shadows to added elements, for example lines and circles.
Arrows have already have small drop shadows, so it seems odd not be able to have a circle without a drop shadow. Or maybe I just haven't figured out how to add one.

In the past, I've been able to apply drop shadows to elements (e.g. circles) in Skitch. But it's been a while; I don't really remember how I used to do it; and after searching exhaustively, I can't see how to do it now.
Was this a feature that was dropped? Or am I missing something obvious (always a strong possibility)?
