Comic Life Magiq 1.0.2.1 update released
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.

This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.

Thanks Ken! Tiny, subtle, but I see it now .

Jere Krischel One more annoyance - the media browser doesn't refresh. That is to say, if I have a custom folder sitting there, and I add an image to it in Finder, I can't see that new image in the custom folder until I restart Magiq. I believe Comic Life actually would pick up new files dropped into directories in their media browser.

Please patch!
david The media browser is brilliant but flawed. The brilliant part is that is isn't limited to just Aperture and/or iPhoto. I love that it also looks in the pictures folder. But is flawed in two ways.

First, it doesn't display PDF files. Annoying! I tend to create a goodly amount of vector style graphics and then export them as PDFs because it lets me print the graphics at high quality to PS as well as non PS printers.

Second, navigation is a total pain in the tochus. With both Aperture and iPhoto library, I have to scroll through every one of those libraries, events, catalogs, and rolls before I even get down to the Pictures folder. And then I have to navigate through a host of sub directories.... It would be nice if perhaps we could designate what folders/libraries to use. Take a look at iMedia Browser for a very nice way of handling this IMHO.

Third, I created a landscape template. When I opened the print setup dialog I saw a list of custom page sizes and totally missed the small selection at the top - use Page Setup. Maybe it was stupidity on my part - but I think the custom page sizes was the default selection. Anyway, at first I used that to select US Letter and then moved over to the right and selected landscape. The page showed up on screen as landscape but didn't print that way - it printed landscape on a portrait orientation. That's when I saw the use Page Setup option.

Any, these complaints in no way detract from an overall brilliant product. 10 minutes after downloading I registered.
Bunglemeister No one asked for it so here are my very early first impressions of CL Magiq.

The user interface is a bit messy with all the sliding and drawer-like parts, there's no way for me to arrange it in a way that really works comfortably on a MacBook Pro (1440x900) screen. I hope there's room for improvement.

I'd rather have two rows of floating palettes to the sides than having one row that's integrated within one window, with all the elements only partly shown, because the screen is only 900 pixels tall... Maybe you could consider making parts of those schrollable panels detachable as floating palettes.

Maybe this is due to the fact that CL Magiq is calculating internally using inches (?), but here in Europe and the rest of the world A4 is 210mm by 297mm, that's 21.0cm by 29.7 cm, and NOT 20.9cm by 29.71cm as CL Magiq is trying to convince me (Page Layout --> Custom Page --> ISO sizes).

Also when I select the Euro Comic templates they're apparently made to fit nicely on a US letter size page. Which somewhat defies the purpose.

If I want to make "Euro" style comics I'd highly prefer the template to be sized for European paper sizes (i.e. A4 which is pretty much the standard for Comic Books in France, Belgium and Germany AFAIK).

After all that complaining, I have to say you did it. I was wondering where Plasq would take Comic Life, because after version 1.4 there wasn't really much left to wish for. Boy was I wrong. You did the magiq! Cool application.

I'm sure you'll make this baby perfect with a few more revisions. Keep up the great work!
