Something I've tried when attempting to troubleshoot strange issues like this is to create a new user then try the same steps under that user. If you still have a problem, then you've at least eliminated user level issues as a potential problem.

I think it's not the Chinese problem...even with regular preset fonts (arial) with special acharacters it still disapear...

Are you saying that if you try to reproduce what I made above, then your Lettering disappears? Have you got any font managers installed on your system?

I've tried with Chinese font as well but it still disappeared after changing to another style element.
I figure that the same thing happened with special characters from the "Character Palette".

You may need to change the font to use one with Chinese characters (Mac's include many).
1) drag "lettering" into the page and type in some chinese character. It displays the chinese character with the default style.
2) when I tried to change it with other style, it disappeared.
I didn't change the font, just simply change the style of the element and it disappear...seems like the other style cannot support chinese characters...?
