cleasterwood It's funny, I was just thinking the same thing about the speech balloons yesterday. I'd love to be able to manipulate the shapes & tails of balloons like you can with the panels. This is a great suggestion.

Blessed be,

Lynn
Yeah Great ideas. I would be really happy if there were a way to edit the origin of a balloon tail. Think about the tail coming from the far side of the balloon, rather than the near. This could open up some valuable space in a panel.
dwccomics All great ideas I've just read and ones I could really use.

A couple of others:

1) Would it be possible to import your own designed speech clouds so they can be used with the same manipulation abilities the current selection have? Because I like to use my own clouds sometimes, I lose out on the practicality that Comic Life's ones have to offer and I would love to take advantage of it.

2) I'd love to be able to manipulate the speech tail more than just dragging the point to extend. Sometimes I'd like to bend it around objects so the view isn't blocked. It would be good if you could add manipulation points like you can with panes.
cartoonM!ke The changes/mods that I'm proposing already builds on the interface that we already have in CL. This line of thought about the balloon options was spurred by my discovery of a wonderfully done satire of 'grim'n'gritty' superhero comix called Breakfast of the Gods. I noticed that it used CL for lettering. And CL did the lettering well. But it got me wondering just how limited the "palette" of balloon choices actually is.

I really feel that Plasq has something really great here with Comic Life and I can truly see it getting better.

For instance, the 'word wrap' feature would be invisible for the user, one would just select a balloon and make it be above or below other items and the lower balloon would wrap around (that is respect the border of) the balloon above. So no new UI needed for that.

The Ballon types and properties would just echo the UI of the caption boxes as they are now. Maybe instead of just entering in a number in the "Features" box, a slider could be used (keeping the interface consistent). I may try to do a quick & dirty mock-up of the UI changes if I have time this week (pushing a deadline on a book).
KeynoteKen Cool ideas! And, if all of this can be worked into a friendly non imposing interface, it'd be even better!
