We are delighted to offer a beta of our upcoming Comic Life Magiq 1.0.3 update.
It has numerous stability and significant performance improvements over 1.0.2.1 - so we would love previous users to download and let us know if you come across any issues.
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.
Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...
This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.
If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".
Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.

Hi Kramy,
Thank you for update. Would you by any chance have an estimated release date for an correction to the software?
The application is great to use and having this correction would be great.

Thank you very much for those detailed steps and files.
I can definitely reproduce the problem here. It seems to be more noticeable with fine art and not as noticeable with photographs (apart from when particular sizing issues is causing similar degradation).
We will endeavor to get this fixed in future updates. Very sorry for the inconvenience.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about.
In the zip file there are three images.
The BMP is an exported page out of Comic Life done at 96dpi at maximum quality. Rendered at roughly 790 pixels wide. The image in that BMP was simply dragged into the panel. No resizing took place. I did this with WYSIWYG both on and off and it made no difference to the export.
The 001 JPG is the original image about 1200 pixels wide. This is completely unaltered and this is the image dragged into the comic page.
The 002 JPG is a resized version of 001. The size of the image is almost identical to the size of the image in the Comic Life export file. It was resized in Photoshop at 7 (medium) JPEG compression.
Comparing image 002 with the BMP export page, you can clearly see the export page image is more blurred and slightly pixelated when compared to the sharp and clear resized image of 002.
If you want to experiment around, use the 001 original in Comic Life and do the same thing I did.
I tried using the template you uploaded, but the sizing seems to be completely different sizing than the image you sent as an example of the final output. For example, I am getting a 567 x 378 at 96dpi whereas your image was 1122 x 793 at 96 dpi.
Once I have your exact template sizing I can then better reproduce the issue.
Thanks for your patience!

Hi O. Joe, thanks for your posting of your concerns. We are definitely looking into this issue. Any chance you could also upload a package of a couple of images you can repro with along with an exported example of what you are seeing?
Thanks very much.
O. Joe
I am getting the same thing myself with the trial and a friend's full version.
I'm lucky I haven't spent money on this!
The one main reason for me to get this over something like Comic Book Creator is because it can export at higher resolutions. But what's the use of that if the export function produces below quality images.
I have a range of 1600 x 1200 JPG images that I place into a page template and resize in a frame, nothing past the original resolution. On the worksheet, the images look as they should. When it's time to export the page into a BMP image at 96 or 150 dpi, the image result is markedly lower than it should be. It looks slightly blurred and pixelated. Toggling the WYSIWYG option for filtering makes no difference whatsoever, neither does restarting the application. All images are exported to this poorer quality with no exceptions.
This is really disappointing. I've found nothing on the market that I can really use as a simple comic page layout publisher. As it stands, what I'll do is publish blank templates, speech bubbles and sound effects from Comic Life into a "template" folder. Then I'll load them into Photoshop and do my editing there where I know I won't lose image quality.
It's a shame because it looks like exactly what I'm after, except it cannot produce the quality output I need. If this is fixed so Comic Life actually does as claimed, I would think about buying the full version. I can't really recommmend Windows Comic Life to others as it stands now.

Hi Keith,
My apologies for the delay, was off on Christmas holidays.
Attached is a zip file containing the comiclife template and the two images (img_9150.jpeg and img_9164.jpeg) which is showing different results when adding to template (example show in Page8.jpeg.
Of some reason the img_9164.jpeg is of significant poorer quality compared to the img_9150.jpeg the added to my template.
Thank you again for a great product and looking forward to hear what I might be doing wrong.
The user guide mentions WYSIWYG image filtering, though it do not seem to have any effect on this issue.
And thank you for your comment Elvis, it do not seem to help on this issue.
