Cranium Comics has recently launched their first four color comic, Brawn #1.
"I used Comic Life on my Mac exclusively to lay out the storyboards, then later when I created and colored all 24 pages of the issue," recounted Anthony Rezendes, the owner of Cranium Comics and co-creator of Brawn.
The comic 'Brawn' focuses on a dockworker named Sam Ross who was reborn as the hero "Brawn" after he was nearly killed in a drunk driving accident.
"Being an illustrator, it saved me quite a bit of time from having to lay all the text bubbles out manually. It made the process of actually creating the comic that much more enjoyable," Mr. Rezendes added.
We think this comic is great! So check out 'Brawn' on the Cranium Comics site or read the first 5 pages on our Comic Life gallery.

A lot of these features will be coming to Comic Life Magiq:
- frame mask of my own choosing, that is "hand drawn
- a custom frame that is scalable, snaps to grid, but can be saved as a frame template
- Snap to Frame Edge
- "bendy" frames
- More editable balloon frames
All those will be in Magiq!
update from edited image (the PS or Illustrator source file gets updated. Its a drag to have to replace the image in the frame).
Have thought about it - but have not added this yet.
Ability to layer in a panel (in order to drop a pattern or gradient behind an image with an alpha channel.
you may do this by holding down Command (or Alt for Windows) and dragging in the second image.
custom font sizes (I am finding 16 point as a compromise size is what I use most often).
You can do this by saving a new default style .. Changing the element to the size you want then > Details Tab > the press Update.
"Makes it an involved production to get the final image."
Could you please explain this in a little more detail. I don't quite understand.
Thanks!
EG
Clarification:
I'd love to be able to have a frame mask of my own choosing, that is "hand drawn":
For special purpose panels -
a custom frame that is scalable, snaps to grid, but can be saved as a frame template.
For example: particular frame deviation used when the character "daydreams" as a symbolic representation.
Was that any clearer?
EG
I believe I may have mentioned this before...
The app has promise for actual cartoon work, but the problem is working to normal scales before dropping the images INTO ComicLife, if one is actually trying to work to compose the frame(s).
So if anyone is working to a larger scale - downsizing is awkward if you aren't doing your pencils on a scalable poster board. Professional stock is too expensive for casual users.
Makes it an involved production to get the final image.

Others:
• Snap to Frame Edge.
• Someone else already mentioned "bendy" frames.
• Ability to layer in a panel (in order to drop a pattern or gradient behind an image with an alpha channel.
• custom font sizes (I am finding 16 point as a compromise size is what I use most often).
• More editable balloon frames.
• update from edited image (the PS or Illustrator source file gets updated. Its a drag to have to replace the image in the frame).
