Silent Movies - 2007/03/17 07:19 I love Comic Life! I've been using this product, with rave reviews, since last May with teachers and classes in our school district. It is the best application for "hooking" students into writing that I've seen in a long time...if ever!

One idea you may like to try with your students is to create a "silent movie". You do this by using multiple pages of one photo. Have the characters in your photo talk to each other. Rule: One balloon per page. These pages then become the "slides" for your silent movie which are then exported to QuickTime for viewing.

You can read more detailed instructions and look at a sample silent movie on my website at

Re:Silent Movies - 2007/03/17 21:04 I love it, Ginny! Now that version 1.3 can copy and paste to other apps, you can use the images and balloons in other apps (like Keynote if the school has iWork) and use Comic Life as the engine to support a wide variety of interactive activities!

Also, if you use them in conjunction with video editing, you may want to point teachers to FreePlay music.

For educational in-class use, the licensing is free.

Thank you!

Re:Silent Movies - 2007/04/30 10:05 Ginny, Thank you for this great idea! I am working with my students right now - we're creating a movie for our principal that's based on _The Important Book_. We used the camera in the MacBook to take pics of the small teams. I can't wait to show it to her!

Thanks again Ginny.
