Digital Performer problem-help please - 2005/07/24 10:42 Here's my problem- I'm running Giga3 on one PC and VSTi's on a second PC. My primary sequencer is Digital Performer. 10.2.8, DP 4.5. The PCs are XP pro, SP2. WH2 is installed and recognised on all three machines (yes Giga see it and appears to send audio out.

I can send an audio track from DP throgh wh2 to the VST box, run a plug in (like Clone Ensemble) and get audio back to DP. THe effect functions, all plays fine. As this was the most important thing to me, I bought the app.

But I also need to get audio tracks from Giga3 and the VST instruments. In V-Stack, I can load a VSTi and play it. WH2 shows audio being passed. In DP, I have an audio track created for this audio stream. In the first Insert, I have an instance of WH2, it's Audio Out light shows activity when appropriate, but I can get no sound from DP - I find no way to get wh2 to connect to the audio out of DPs virtual mixer.

What to do? Adrian help,please.

Re:Digital Performer problem-help please - 2005/07/24 11:32 Hi Dasher

This has to do with how DP4.5 handles audio channels. If an audio channel has no audio objects on it, DP4.5 mutes its output. To make the audio audible, you have to feed some empty audio to Wormhole (I know it sounds weird but it's a fact ). Alternatively, use Wormhole on an aux track with some input selected (without input muting occurs as well). Or use an instrument channel with just some instrument which you don't feed midi to.

That way Performer will unmute the track. For WH1 I had DummyInst to solve these matters.. It's an instrument which has no function besides making the host believe audio is coming through. Get it here: http://www.apulsoft.ch/dummyinst.zip

If you use DummyInst, you just create a Instrument track for it in DP and then place WH2 onto that track.

Re:Digital Performer problem-help please - 2005/07/26 05:14 Installed the components, but DP 4.5 under OSX 10.2.8 does not see it. I tried just an audio inout but still no dice. What can we do next?

Re:Digital Performer problem-help please - 2005/07/26 06:46 I use a PC for all my web connections, but I went to the apulsoft site with the Mac, and dummyinst downloads differently - it installed and passed the U check. Works fine now, tho' the buffer has to be pretty high (800+) to avoid crackling. That's a network issue, though.

Thanks, Adrian.

Re:Digital Performer problem-help please - 2005/07/26 07:02 You mean DP didn't see DummyInst? Or it didn't see WH2?

In case of DummyInst: DummyInst doesn't show up as a normal plugin, as it is an instrument. To use it, choose "new instrument track" with DummyInst.

In case of WH2: I think this case is impossible as otherwise this very thread wouldn't exist.. correct?

Best

Adrian
