ftp/sftp setup can be tricky. Unfortunately, it's dependant of your sftp and http server settings and skitch can't guess them.
Your settings should probably be something like :

server : www.socialsignal.com (I suppose you can sftp to that ? Else it's the server you can sftp to using any sftp client - could also be socialsignal.com, or something else...)
user & password : your sftp user and password
directory : /var/www/html/sites/default/files/images (the directory on the server where the sftp client should put the files)
Base URL : http://www.socialsignal.com/system/files/images
(the directory where the files have been put, but as seen by your http server)

Tried different variations of the base URL, even gone so far as to copy and paste from the settings of an FTP client that actually works. I still get: server refused connection. Check user and password. Can't figure out why it would work with Cyberduck and Transmit but not Skitch, with the same settings. On a Mac, obviously.

Skitch uploaded them but was still returning an error. So I triple-checked settings and uploaded different images. Checked in the directory via transmit. There they were, but Skitch said, every time: Posted file is not appearing where it should. Please check your "Base URL" setting. So the upload is going fine, it's just when Skitch tries to get the URL and put it on the clipboard (I assume that's what it's doing) it can't for some reason.

rick powell Visitor	FIXED - 2008/04/07 16:06 I'm not sure why I thought of this but...I replaced the http with ftp in the base URL settings and left everything else the same, and when I uploaded Skitch returned no error. The copy link button appeared - which I've NEVER seen before - and when I pasted it, it was ftp instead of http. So. That's better than nothing or an error. I'm guessing it has something to do with some weird configuration on my server. Base URL Error - 2008/05/21 03:58 I just set up skitch to post to a folder via ftp. Skitch is posting, but falters when generating the url. I have a parallel setup using jing. Here's the error: http://www.bbhgraze.com/z/jing/2008-05-20_1454.png

Can you please assist me in solving the issue so that skitch can successfully copy links of files it posts via ftp?
