We are delighted to offer a beta of our upcoming Comic Life Magiq 1.0.3 update.
It has numerous stability and significant performance improvements over 1.0.2.1 - so we would love previous users to download and let us know if you come across any issues.
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.
Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...
This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.
If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".
Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.

Re:Just a few things.... - 2005/03/24 17:33Very Cool.
all three of the musolomo team have novation25s. We use and reccomend them for musolomo.
Hehe. Good choice, I approve
oooo handsonic...nice... the majority of the musolomo team has decided that you MUST provide some mp3 samples
Well, you'll be happy to know that I haven't used it much until now simply because I was desiring something that does what your plug is doing. I am STOKED! So, the mp3s will be coming, but I am still in the assignment phase of all this. I also just upgraded my setup from a 600 iBook to a 1.2 iBook, so a lot of things that I wanted to do a year ago and couldn't accomplish on my mobile setup (I'm also running a dual 1G Powerlogix Quicksilver for the Studio) I am now able to comfortably do (and even with a little headroom!). STOKED!!!
thats my band and a song of mine.
Nice....I'm impressed.
perhaps we may make live just count quavers in the end, and musolomo can accept time signature info, OR you could put in a big composite bar in Live, and tell musolomo how you want it subdivided.
Yeah, I'm going to play around with this and live for a while. I've been sticking to 16 beat stuff for a while since I've been getting the hang of live, but I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to produce some older material that was done in Logic in odd time sigs, and that should give me a better idea of the inherent problems. There is one piece in particular that I've been dumping arangements from Logic into Live to do remixes of, and its kind of whacky. When I get around to it, it should give me some better insights, and I'll get back to you with them.
because then, you could only trigger loops that existed already. (otherwise you would commence recording on a fresh key)
Hmmm. I hadn't thought of that, since I'm not using that function yet. I think that if there were a simple toggle switch for this (an "always assign toggle" mode or something in addition to the normal implementation) it would be an easy fix and give users a greater ability for assignment without the need for holding down keys while recording.
well, actually you can tell memory usage by audio feedback. there is a feature which gives you white noise when you are approaching maximum. have a look at the other 2 outputs coming from musolomo :-D
AAAAaaaahhhhh. I remember reading about that in the docs, wondered what it was about since I never heard any white noise. I guess that would work great in Live if assigned to the cue mix. I'll have to give it a look-see, it may solve my need to have the GUI window open at all (for the time being).
I've consulted out graphics section, and the answer is No. you have to buy a powerbook.
Hehehe. Sobeit.....
Airy Rox.
Undoubtably!
musolomo was built for the exact things you are using it for. Do try the digiskip technology too, it's really very powerful for performance.
oooo, yeah. I know, I can feel it. Trouble is, I can't capture Tabla parts while holding keys (cause I'm playing) and when I use Auto, I don't know where they are mapped to, so its hard to figure out exactly what I'm doing real time. I will get it down though, even without revisions. I just have to fiddle with it some more.
Again, you guys rock, and I totally appreciate the help and hope you've given me, and if I can hook you up with any Max/MSP collectives that I build around this thing (I know there will be some of that sort of thing when I get the hang of your plug) then I will send them your way. Also, I'll throw you some bones when I get this new Book paid off (I just got it last week actually, I sat down with it the first time to try out your plug). I am turning everyone I know onto this plug (I work at a very cool music store in Humboldt, CA, mostly handbuilt and acoustic instruments and stuff, but almost everyone is using Macs out here for production). The BUZZ WILL INCREASE.

I like a large GUI - I can see it from across the room when troubleshooting is required...

The Korg microKONTROL also works very well, especially with a custom Logic environment (THE reason I love Logic) or Logic Control emulation via LC Xmu (ahem, shameless plug).
Re:live looping - 2005/03/25 22:52actually, i will improve on the spec.
The core problem is modality...if you don't know which loop is which, and what MODE it is, then you are stuffed with my previous concept.
also, we have the problem of not knowing whether a minilooper key already has a sample on it, if you want to record.
Basically, we need the looper to be RELIABLE. Better:
Empty minilooper. not currently in playback. not in record ------------------------ - quick tap starts recording
-long tap(held>1 second) does nothing (perhaps white noise warning)
For currently in record ----------------------- -quick tap (on any minilooper key) ends recording, no playback -long tap ends recording, commences playback of fresh loop
full minilooper, not currently playing or recording: -------------------- - quick tap start then stops loop (like a normal short note on a keyboard) - holding down note/ button for more than 1 second(long tap) will 'latch' the loop to ON, even after you release the note/ button
triple click at any time =erase sample
- If you forget that a minilooper already has a recording on it,and it is not playing, and you go to record on it, then you will hear a short burst of the loop.
- If you forget that a minilooper already has a recording on it, and it is currently playing, then you will stop the loop. starting it again is easy by holding down that note.
-If you think a minilooper is full, but it's empty, and you go to play it, you will get a white noise warning
-if you record a loop, and make a mistake, you can stop it,without hearing back the whole loop.
you also have the option of erase with triple click
- You can stop all processes by quick tapping all notes twice
Re:live looping - 2005/03/28 04:42That sounds pretty good, but I think there is any easier way....simpler, I mean. I don't have time to work again until Tuesday, I'll get back to you then. I also have to do a little testing with Logic/Max/Muso, as I discovered this combo doesn't work at all for me (due to Midi Port configuration, also mentioned by John)....anyway, thanks again, I can tell this thing is going to be a monster!
