Re:Beach ball -- hanging - 2009/05/08 02:06 We are having the same issues. Major spinning ball when kids are trying to use the dump bucket. We use Doozla locally with the students' work saved on a server. We have tried switching computers but the issue seems to follow the file that is being used. Once it become corrupted it spins everywhere. Once the student starts a new document it is fine. If it becomes corrupted for some reason it remain corrupted. We are running the latest Doozla on OSX 10.5.5

Re:Beach ball -- hanging - 2009/06/08 13:05 I am a teacher working in a computer lab. The app runs locally, while student work is saved on the server running 10.5 as are the clients. Love the program but it constantly freezes most often using the bucket, and most often using brown. Please fix.

Re:Beach ball -- hanging - 2009/06/10 22:32 We are still trying to find out the cause for this but cannot reliably reproduce the issue.

Are these accounts "locked down" in any way regarding permissions?

Thanks.

Re:Beach ball -- hanging - 2009/08/03 10:33 In case it helps, I had the beach ball pretty consistently on the main screen one one account. That account wasn't an admin, and the beach ball would go away for a few seconds after I opened the 'force quit' menu.. I didn't have to kill the app.. just threaten to

Everything worked fine after I entered one of the painting screens. And it worked fine from the admin accounts. Switching the user to admin didn't help. I ended up deleting the plist and everything worked fine.

Re:Beach ball -- hanging - 2009/08/21 20:39 Our son is having the same problem. He's running 10.5.8 on an iMac

(I don't recall the problem under 10.5.7 but he only recently switched from spending most of his time on the "draw on the background" screens to the "color/fill within the lines" screens)

His account is a managed account with restrictions on web access but I doubt that's a problem because I'm not seeing anything in the "denied" log.

The problem occurs for his when using the "paint bucket" to fill in a section. He will click it and then after a moment or two the beachball pops up. Nothing gets filled. The beachball doesn't go away on it's own (unless it's post the 3+ minute mark). The area doesn't get filled in. I'm not sure of any pattern to his "filling in" that triggers the problem, but I'll keep looking - he's certainly doing things you might not have tested extensively - like "filling" the black outlines to be a different color and then filing in that area with the same color.

Looking in system.log I see:
Aug 21 08:33:09 boys-imac [0x0-0x91091].com.plasq.doozla[1464]: [SubPath::getInsidePoint()] terrible error, no inside points found!
(lots of repeats and the timestamp seems to correspond to when I had to force kill the program).

Looking at the report from doing a force quit I see that it appears spinning in "__Z16_collectSnippetsRSt6vectorIN6skitch7SubPathESaIS1_EERS _IPNS0_4PathESaIS6_EES6_".

I'll be delighted to upload whatever logs you like if you let me know where to send them.
