Comic Life Magiq 1.0.2.1 update released
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.

Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...

This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.

If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".

Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.

PDF image quality - 2008/05/09 04:02 I was so impressed with Comic Life that I bought Magiq. But I notice tow major bugs with both programs - which trusting that you will adress these I went ahead and bought the programs.

First with Comic Life Deluxe (mac) --When you export to PDF the page turns up blank. I have tried it with different resolutions but no luck. The program works in everyother aspect, but this is pretty major if you want to export a comic and had it off to a printer.

Next Comic Life Magiq - PDFs export the images at too low of an image compression thereby degrading the image too much to be usable as a printed product.
You guys need to make a setting that can either decrease the compression or up the image resolution.
I'd love to use this product for creating my final printed book, but I need a PDF that has images that appear in high res.

Fix those major problems and these programs will go from Good to GREAT!

Oh and so you don't think I'm some inexperienced weenie: I have been retouching for 15 years and making comics for almost as long. Plus the machine I am using this on is a Mac Pro with 10 gigs of ram and 1 terabyte of HD space.

Re:PDF image quality - 2008/05/09 06:06 In the preferences, there's an option for "New comics filter images at:" By default, it's 72. If you change this to 300, is there any difference in quality?

Re:PDF image quality - 2008/05/09 06:13 Hello there Edward,

Thank you very much for supporting us!

On the Deluxe issue, could you please try trashing this .plist file (you will need to reset your Comic Life preferences again).

1. Make sure you are not running Comic Life
2. Find the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.plasq.ComicLife.plist

(~ is the users directory)

3. trash this file
4. restart comic life.

Does that fix it? Other users have reported this to fix the issue.

Re:PDF image quality - 2008/05/20 11:52 I just trash that plist file and restarted Magiq. Success!

The PDF is now generated and looks decent. So far so good.

Keep up the good work.
