Comic Life Classic -v- Magiq? Help. - 2008/06/06 03:05New user here.
I'm not sure if I need Comic Life (Classic) or Comic Life Magiq.
I've downloaded both demos. It appears that the CL Classic demo is the "Standard" version with fewer templates / fonts / styles than the Deluxe version.
On the other hand, the Magiq demo has a boatload of templates / styles / fonts. More than I can really grok as a new user.
At the base I'm unable to effectively compare Classic to Magic because the demos are not peer-level products.
Here's what I want to know...
1) Which has more templates / fonts / styles, CL Deluxe or CL Magiq? 2) Where can I find a product comparison chart of the various flavors of Comic Life (Standard, Deluxe, Magiq)? 3) Is there a list of the fonts / styles / templates included with each version?
At first blush it's looking like Comic Life Deluxe is the right way for me to go. I don't think I need all the additional bells and whistles of Magiq (image editor, etc... actually reminds me of Kai's software from way back when), but if that choice results in fewer templates / styles / fonts, then I'd have to rethink my options.
So, I'm looking for clarity which could be provided by a real product comparison chart similar to this one for Quicken (http://quicken.intuit.com/compare_products.jhtml) or this one for Adobe Acrobat (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html)
It's probably obvious that a robust library of styles, etc. is a primary feature for me. Secondary to that would be the ability to design/import my own styles.
Re:Comic Life Classic -v- Magiq? Help. - 2008/06/06 04:12You can start with this image.
Counting the fonts in CLM, I come up with 71 (which, I believe, are inclusive of the ones that come with CLDeluxe). I also think all the templates that come with CLDeluxe comes with CLM plus CLM's new themed templates. The same can be said for the Styles.
Re:Comic Life Classic -v- Magiq? Help. - 2008/06/06 09:25Thanks KeynoteKen,
Adisa, Comic Life Magiq has 70 fonts included for Dialogue, FX, Title and other uses. [edit - I said 100 originally but had included Bold and italic separately by mistake - sorry!]
It's harder to compare styles for example - as the styles in Comic Life Magiq are integrated into the themed template. More templates will be available in the future as well.
Since you already have Comic Life Magiq, simply follow these steps to see, and try out all the fonts:
Re:Comic Life Classic -v- Magiq? Help. - 2008/06/24 07:16Hey folks, thanks for the feedback. I've evaluated both products and come down in favor of Magiq which I've since purchased.
Re:Comic Life Classic -v- Magiq? Help. - 2008/07/24 20:53I am trying to decide whether to purchase Comic Life Deluxe or Comic Life Magiq? Does Comic Life Magiq do everything that Comic Life Deluxe does plus additional features? I undertstand that Magiq has more fonts and templates but will it do everything that Comic Life Deluxe does and more?
Re:Comic Life Classic -v- Magiq? Help. - 2008/07/24 23:49Hi MacPower,
You're correct -- Comic Life Magiq does everything Comic Life can, and more. One important note is, due to the new architecture that Comic Life Magiq is built on, it's not possible to open Comic Life documents in Comic Life Magiq.
