The great screen capture, annotation and sharing service has all grownup, left the plasq stables and become its own fully fledged company.
For users this change will not affect you in any noticeable way - skitch.com is still the main home and some of the same people are working on it but you'll be seeing big things coming soon!

This latest free update restores OS X 10.4 Tiger compatibility that broke with the recently released 1.5.1 update.
This update contains fixes from the previously released 1.5.1, which included several Snow Leopard compatibility fixes and a couple of other minor improvements.
As always, this update is also for the Deluxe version.
Please update from within Comic Life or from our downloads page.
Can't save templates - 2009/05/19 11:10I'm just digging into Comic Life Magiq, and I've run across an odd problem. I'm trying to set up a template, but no matter what I do it either won't let me save it, or it will but then it'll erase it the next time I try to update it.
Here's what I'm doing, step by step: I open up the Blank template. I change the page setup to a custom 11x17 page size. I drag each of the word balloons that I want to use into the page. I select them all and pick the font I want (using the system fonts button). I go through each balloon and adjust the font (bold, italics, size, etc.). I go through each balloon and adjust the shape and tail as desired. I go through each balloon and change the stroke type to brush, and pick either the Ink Brush or one of the Marker types for each (these blend well with my line work). I try to save this as a new template, I don't get any errors, but nothing is saved. Now, when I move things around or add new things to the page, different elements will randomly disappear and reappear. They are still there, and selectable, but they are not visible. Also, dragging images onto this page will add them, but they will not be visible. Also, at this point I also cannot save the file as a regular comic.
This has happened at least four times now. The last time I saved after setting up the fonts. This created a template file (I had this folder open in Finder to monitor it). When I finished adjusting the strokes and saved again, overwriting the existing file, it erased this file and did not save a new one.
Any ideas what I can do about this? It's extremely frustrating to spend half an hour getting things set up just right, only to find that nothing is being saved.
Re:Can't save templates - 2009/05/19 11:57There's more:
I just tried making a file, in exactly the same way, but saving it as a regular comic as I went. I saved after dragging the balloons into the page, again after adjusting the fonts, again after changing the strokes, and so on.
It saved, but only the first few times. It seems to have stopped saving after I started messing with the line types, changing them to brush strokes.
This is really frustrating, especially since it's such a potentially devastating problem. I could work on a project for hours, believing that I was saving my progress, only to find out that I'd lost hours of work.
Re:Can't save templates - 2009/05/20 11:01I'm using the most recent version (1.0.4), I downloaded it from the site as part of my trouble shooting.
I think I've figured it out though. The problem seems to happen when changing the color of a font using the "Show Colors" button (which pops up the OS X color picker. Oddly, it only seems to happen when choosing a gray color from the Gray Scale Slider, and then only if you pick the gray by clicking on one of the boxes (the 25%, 50%, and 75% boxes under the slider). Magiq's built in color picker doesn't seem to cause this problem.
That seems really strange, but that's definitely what's doing it for me. Pick a color using any other method and it saves fine, pick one of those grays and it doesn't save a thing.
Luckily, that's easy to avoid. I'd really like to know if it's a strange bug, or if there's something wrong with my system though.
Re:Can't save templates - 2009/05/20 22:33Figures, I finally move up to Magiq, despite some reservations, and I run into the most random bug I've ever personally experienced.
I can see why it hasn't been noticed before though, since it's such a specific action that causes it. I was just unlucky enough to do that exact thing each time.
I'll gladly test the fix, and until then I'll just use one of the many other ways to pick colors.
