Feature Suggestions - 2009/04/10 20:57 First of all--tremendous product guys. I've used several comic creation software programs and Comic Life Windows is the easiest to master with the most layout flexibility (all you have to do is dig in and think outside the box). I do my work in Painter X and Photoshop CS4 and then import into CL.

Suggestions (maybe for Comic Life Pro Version):
Native ability to import custom word ballons and caption boxes. This can be done two ways now, but you have to treat the ballon like an image an then overlay a transparent text box or if you have a font creation program, you can create a font set of custom shapes and balloons and then bring them in that way. Works fine, but if it were included as a program feature it would be much better.

Include choices for page formats for different comic sizes. POD publishers work in different sizes (standard comic size, digest size, manga size) each of which have different page and margin, trim, bleed dimensions. It would be great to include native professional templates to support all these formats. I made my own CL template based on a trade comic submission guidelines grid, but including these out of the box would save time in cropping for submission in another program.

For some reason, zooming in blurs artwork (even high definition artwork) in CL. Don't know why it should do this (this doesn't happen with CBC2 or Manga Studio). This is distracting and should be addressed quickly (it's been a problem for years, but nothing has been done to correct it).

The ability to draw in CL is not really necessary (why copy Manga Studio if you don't have to). I see CL as a layout tool, not as a Photoshop clone).

Keep up the good work guys, but I'd love to see some of these things addressed. You have a great product with a lot more potential than kids dragging pictures into frames and putting funny sayings in ballons, but you need to include some advanced features and market your product better, higher end audience to maximize it's potential.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. We hope to add some of those things in a future version.

This is not a bug, but deliberately designed this way. The pictures displayed in Comic Life (when creating the comic) are low-res cached images; used to enhance performance. Exporting though will make the image appear fine

Best wishes!
