Comic Life Magiq 1.0.2.1 update released
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.

Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...

This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.

If you're already running 1.0.2c (v10939) you can "Skip This Version".

Head to the plasq downloads page to get the 1.0.2.1 update or update from within Comic Life Magiq.

Webpost FTP values? - 2007/07/09 01:46 I've been using FTP for years, but I have no idea what "directory" or "base url" are supposed to be. It seems fairly ambiguous.

First I tried this, but it didn't work:

Directory: /www/htdocs/blahblah
Base Url: /

Then I tried this, but that didn't work:

Directory: /blah/imgs/
Base Url: www.site.com

I must be missing something fairly obvious.

Re:Webpost FTP values? - 2007/07/09 06:49 "Directory" is the same thing as "remote path," the verbiage used by most FTP clients I've used. In my case, it's /public_html/images

"Base URL" is how you'd get to that directory via a web browser. In my case, it's http://images.mydomain.com/. You might try adding the http:// prefix to your URL in the text field.

That said, what about it "doesn't work" for you? Are you getting any errors or anything? Are you certain that the directory you're specifying exists? (Ya, I know, but I try to check the obvious first - I don't mean to imply you've no idea what you're doing, by any means!)

Re:Webpost FTP values? - 2007/07/09 08:12 I'm getting a "Posted file is not appearing where it should be, please check your Base URL setting". My base url is www.site.com. It gives me this error regardless of whether or not I use http://

Re:Webpost FTP values? - 2007/07/09 08:17 Ach, I figured it out. There should be some clearer instructions, or better verbiage. I'm very technically inclined and "base URL" is kind of misleading. That sounds like they want the root, not the full path to the image directory in a web browser.

Thanks for your feedback - we definitely are looking at making this process easier in future versions.

While it's true that "base" and "root" can occasionally be confused and are occasionally interchangeable, I'd argue that "base" is really the most accurate term that plasq could use here. It refers to the bit of the URL that is common to all the images Skitch uploads:

http://images.mydomain.com/skitch1.jpg
http://images.mydomain.com/skitch2.jpg
