I realise that it can be hidden but why the inability to close it or cancel it completely? I like to run a resource tight ship and while you might argue that the window occupies few resources it's more resources than if the window behaved like every other window (i.e. closable). The closability and cancel-ability is arguably a core feature of MacOS. What is the intention of not allowing the user to close the window?
Why not use the iPhoto database? Many consumers are likely to have their photos in iPhoto and may be accustomed to accessing their photos there (as they do in iWork and iLife).
And, no, the Photo area doesn't work that way There's a small curlicue arrow in the upper right corner of the directory selection window that's for refreshing that view.
Saw the refresh arrow and was coming back to post my discovery. Thanks.
Okay, sure, most users use iPhoto indeed. My comment was misplaced however I think Magiq's reliance on iPhoto's mechanisms shows too heavily in its UI. It, like the new iPhoto and iMovieHD are pigs when it comes to eating up processor cycles (and battery life). No need for a (cool, awesome, etc...) comic editor to be as reckless.
A simple list would consume far fewer cycles.
There are much more pressing (crashes) issues that need attending to but I would ask plasq to consider a list view for the Photo area of the screen a priority for an update.
I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of Magiq today but I've had to stay plugged in much more than when I wasn't running Magiq. Normally I run Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop and half a dozen other apps and with the addition of Magiq, I'd say my battery life dropped by ~30 minutes.
Granted, I was using the Photo area a lot as I was just experimenting with this new toy but still...if the Photo area has a "display as list" option I could have cut that by a significant amount.
