I have also been using Skitch as a standalone application and have no desire / need for hosting.
I would most definitely pay for Skitch. Whilst other apps such as Jing are free (and offer more features) I like the interface and ease of use that Skitch offers.
Also I know from experience that Plasq offer first rate support and update their products regularly, as opposed to some companies which abandon any attempts at updates / fixes a couple of months after launch.
If paying for Skitch guaranteed the same top rate support as they give Comic Life, then they have my money in an instant.
I would imagine a price between $10 -$20 would not be asking much from most people.
