Cranium Comics has recently launched their first four color comic, Brawn #1.
"I used Comic Life on my Mac exclusively to lay out the storyboards, then later when I created and colored all 24 pages of the issue," recounted Anthony Rezendes, the owner of Cranium Comics and co-creator of Brawn.
The comic 'Brawn' focuses on a dockworker named Sam Ross who was reborn as the hero "Brawn" after he was nearly killed in a drunk driving accident.
"Being an illustrator, it saved me quite a bit of time from having to lay all the text bubbles out manually. It made the process of actually creating the comic that much more enjoyable," Mr. Rezendes added.
We think this comic is great! So check out 'Brawn' on the Cranium Comics site or read the first 5 pages on our Comic Life gallery.
Re: Classroom Materials - 2005/10/28 00:37I am the elementary school librarian/computer guy. I have used Comic Life to prepare my substitute folder with instructions on how to check out books, log in to the computers and all the technical stuff that needs to be done if I am going to be out.
I also used it to prepare some plans for a sub when I was going to be out.
Very easy, extremely readable, easily understood and way cool!
Re:Classroom materials - 2006/09/09 03:14I teach at The Boys and Girls Clubs of America in Pasadean in the computer lab. We would like to use Comic Life as a tool on our 20 computers. Please let us know if you would grant us the software (on PC?)?
Re:Classroom materials - 2007/03/04 10:09A colleague and I created a web site for a Comic Life session we presented at a recent Institute Day. It contains many work examples, templates, student planning sheets, and links to resources. Hope it will be useful for some of you.
Re:Classroom materials - 2007/12/22 01:48What a great resource - much thanks! I enjoyed your website. I am preparing for NECC 2008 pre-conference workshop in San Antonio and working on authentic student samples as well as paving the way for 21st century skills and NETS•S and content standards. May I include your site as part of the resource list? You will find that my www.digitales.us website has research-based scoring guides for digital products that may provide some assessment tools for comic-based comunication. The BIG question I try to share with teachers is not what tool (mode) they are using but scoring content based on purpose/audience AKA TYPE of communication being targeted!
thanks Bernajean Porter
