Been a little while since I've been over here, but since I finally picked up an Intel Mac I thought it was appropriate to revisit Musolomo.
I've noticed a couple of minor functions in the new Betas that I don't recall having been in the pre-UB versions. Unfortunately, I've looked all through the docs (as well as searching the forums) and haven't tripped over anything that really addresses them.
Down by the help button, there are two new(?) switches labelled "Make 1" and "Sticky" respectively. Can anybody give me a quick rundown what those two do?
The "Make1" feature allows you to force set a current MIDI controller CC value to the one which will be the default value for the controlled value. Let's say you have playback speed controlled by a wheel of your MIDI keyboard, and "make 1" bound to some button of your MIDI Keyboard. When you want to go back to "normal" playback speed, it can be tricky since you have to turn the knob to the exact middle pos. So, just push the "make 1" button, move the knob to a somewhat middle pos, then release the "make 1" button. The current knob position is now the one for the "default" value of the "playback speed" parameter.
About the skicky button, all notes OFF events are ignored while this button is ON, which is handy to start a loop and keep it playing after released its triggering key.
I'd sort of guessed what the "Sticky" function might be, but wasn't 100% certain (aside: nice that it's no longer necessary to use the Legato note hack any longer. Plus, I'm assuming that Sticky is polyphonic too. YAY!!!!)
As far as "Make 1", I would never have deduced that one. It makes sense, given the example you posted, and I'm sure I'll end up using it.
One thing I'm curious about with Make 1, though. Since you're using it to essentially "re-center" the control, are there any parameters where you could possibly access values outside those available in the GUI? For instance, the Timestretch function on the X/Y Pad has a boundary of -4.0 to +4.0. Now, on this one I've tried manually entering values outside that range, which it simply ignores. But would it be theoretically possible to recenter the "zero" on a MIDI controller to, say, -3.0 and have a range of -7.0 to +1.0 (yeah, I know it won't work on that particular control, I'm just using this for an example)?
Re:Musolomo "Make 1" & "Sticky" - 2007/05/11 03:48Oh, and while I'm asking, any other new and not-yet-documented features that I missed in the new builds?
(p.s.: still wondering if songcarver's minilooper idea is ever going to see light...)
Re:Musolomo "Make 1" & "Sticky" - 2009/07/30 22:23is it possible to use "make 1" fuction with "autolooper" ? i cannot get it to work! i hold a loop and play with "tape speed" when i try to place it in the normal setting with "make 1" i get no result!
