Cranium Comics has recently launched their first four color comic, Brawn #1.
"I used Comic Life on my Mac exclusively to lay out the storyboards, then later when I created and colored all 24 pages of the issue," recounted Anthony Rezendes, the owner of Cranium Comics and co-creator of Brawn.
The comic 'Brawn' focuses on a dockworker named Sam Ross who was reborn as the hero "Brawn" after he was nearly killed in a drunk driving accident.
"Being an illustrator, it saved me quite a bit of time from having to lay all the text bubbles out manually. It made the process of actually creating the comic that much more enjoyable," Mr. Rezendes added.
We think this comic is great! So check out 'Brawn' on the Cranium Comics site or read the first 5 pages on our Comic Life gallery.
Loop record layers resample mode - 2005/03/08 04:34So, for the loop recordng, it would be cool if there were a mode such that recording new layers resamples the old recording so that there is only one layer that you build on. This way, when the playback is stopped, restarting the playback of the layers of sound you previously recorded can be done with the stroke of one key. Also, this gives the user the option of layering two minute takes upon two minute takes; or a 2 minute take over a repeated 1 minute take; etc..
In the same vein, for this mode I'm proposing, it would be cool if there were a sub-mode such that you could record an initial layer, thereby setting the bar length/quantity, and hitting the hold key a second time begins playback like normal but it also begins recording immediatly again. This way the user can build up layers quickly without having to double hit the hold key. I guess this could work well in the traditional mode without resampling too. I guess this would require a another button to cease recording and continue playback and also the stop prior might not work out with the resampling.
Just some thoughts and I'll be devestated if you don't meet them. Cheers.
Re:Loop record layers resample mode - 2005/03/09 01:58Loops and bars: What I'm thinking is that in one mode, you record a bar, you release 'hold,' It immediatley starts recording again. This should have two modes within it.
In one mode, the hold button should function like this: one press engages recording, **another press disengages the intial recording and starts overdubbing in layers the length of the initial recording, another press ceases recording (and continues playback), another press continues loop recording, another ceases recording and continues playback, etc.. In this mode, the loop is stuck at the same length and the phrases you layer on top are the same length. Switching into mode 2 explained below at the * enables recording longer phrases on top of this initial loop length. (Mode 2 can function without switching to it from mode 1 also.)
In the second moode, the hold button should function like this: One press engages recording, *another press disengages the intial recording and starts overdubbing a length constituting a multiple integer of the initial length, another press defines this length and begins recoding another length at a multiple of the just previously defined length, etc.. Another button alltogether should stop recording and allow playback (or a doulbe tap of hold). You should be able to switch to mode 1 explained above at the **.
Both of these modes should allow resampling so the buffer doesn't get too fat but musolomo traditional non-resampling should be available too.
In terms of 3 bars over 2, Musolomo could figure out what an even 6 bars should be resampled. Maybe this should be an option, and the other option is to cut off the last bar in the 3 bars over 2.
