Nah, I'm thinking dumber than that - the default loop is the whole sample length. Think of it as an oscillator and the whole sample as a "cycle". The sample cycles and the ADSR envelope merely overlays that and modifies the level.
The more I think about it, I think just an AR envelope would be fine.
I'm not proposing sophisticated loop-point setting with pre-loop and post-loop sections, just a simple start/end trim and the whole sample from start to end is still the loop. Casio SK-1 again.
