ProTools compatibility? - 2005/09/30 08:58 Is it possible to run Wormhole within a VST->RTAS wrapper, a la FXPansion?

Are there any plans to make an RTAS/TDM version of Wormhole?

Could make or break it for me

Thanks!

Re:ProTools compatibility? - 2005/11/03 23:44 I did some few test with pro tools.

My setting is a biG4 1,25GHz (RAM 2Gb) with PT LE Digi001 6.4 and PC AthlonXP2800+ (RAM 2Gb) with VStack 1.2 / Gigabit ethernet.

If don't considering latency pb, I was able to run more than 60 stereo aux on PT (so 120 mono audio channels) and link them between the mac and the PC ! (note : the limit is due to CPU horsepower, from both mac and PC)

The main issue I noticed is a random latency time depending on the number of tracks created and the buffer settings.

With the same settings (ie nb of "wormhole" tracks), the latency is never the same so it is difficult to know if the sync is correct between the 2 computers.

Other issue, sometimes (when addings new "wormhole" tracks), the communication between machine fails and create dropouts (I must reload the PT session to recover properly audio signal). Adding new "wormhole" tracks (even one) can cause this issue.

I don't know if it a PT+VSTtoRTAS+Wormhole issues or a "normal" wormhole issues or a gigabit Mac/PC issue.

I didn't test with the very last update (the one I used was 2.01).

I will perform more test to see latency stability issue when I have the time to set everything properly (have some issues with my mac). With reasonnable nb of tracks (16 to 32), it should work very well

PS : It works with PT M-Powered too and/or 100Mbits network (with less tracks)

Re:ProTools compatibility? - 2005/11/27 17:56 He would be using FXpansion's at a guess.
