Trouble detecting/using installed AUs - 2006/07/07 06:05 I downloaded Rax to give Musolomo a whirl, but for some reason it doesn't appear to detect any of the installed AU components on my system. I have Musolomo and Buzzer 2 (from trying to follow the tutorial install/procedure) sitting in my System /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ directory. I have also tried them in the analogous ~/ user directory too. When I go to Source->Instrument in the Rax menus, the only manufacturer I see is Apple. Apple is also the only manufacturer under effects too. I don't see how to get either of these audio units into my mixer rack or to access them in any other way.

In case it makes any difference I am using one of the intel macs.

Any help, pointers or diagnostic advice would be much appreciated.

Re:Trouble detecting/using installed AUs - 2006/07/07 13:11 Hi there Gilbert.

Unfortunately, musolomo is only powerPC only currently. We're looking into that... not sure of a timeframe though.

Are the other plugins working fine in your other hosts?

Re:Trouble detecting/using installed AUs - 2006/07/07 14:15 I got the Musolomo GUI to launch from Impromptu and Amadeus before, but I wasn't sure how to get everything hooked up in those hosts, (or if I even could for Amadeus) so I decided I'd give Rax a shot.

I just went and got buzzer2 working in Impromptu to double check that it wasn't something with my system in general. However, AUlab doesn't find either Musolomo or Buzzer2 either, so Rax may be having the same issue as it, whatever that may be.

Re:Trouble detecting/using installed AUs - 2006/07/08 10:03 Unfortunately, BuzZer is PPC only (we will need to update that in our help section sorry). You can use Automat from the same guy and is also free and is Intel too:
http://www.alphakanal.de/static/files/Automat_0.4.2_ub.zip . It's basically a nex-gen buzzer.

Re:Trouble detecting/using installed AUs - 2006/07/21 10:17 So, I just found out about an easy work around to this problem. If you go to the Rax.app icon, and "get info" on it (ctrl click for context menu) you can tell the universal binary to run in rosetta. Whiz, bang, all the Audio Units are magically there.

Re:Trouble detecting/using installed AUs - 2006/07/21 10:26 Thanks for that Gilbert,

How do you find Rax performance when in Rosetta mode? Does it take much of a performance hit?

Thanks for keeping us informed
