Re:Comic Life 1.3 Beta - 2006/09/11 00:52 If you have several overlapping objects, copying any of them will include the overlapping parts of the surrounding objects.

Re:Comic Life 1.3 Beta - 2006/09/14 12:35 Hi Keynoteken,

Thanks for all the bug tracking:

1. I like the way the interface shows an example of the style being chosen, but I wanted to give you the name of the styles so that you could see the difference. Is there an interface that could show names as well as images?

If you hover over the images, the name will show up.

2. I noticed word balloons have two different bounding boxes.... When only the balloon is selected, copy and paste doesn't do anything

We will look to improved this interaction, thanks.

3. This also shows when copying and pasting to other apps.

Yes, we have that tracked as a bug - and are looking into a fix. It especially needs to be done now, due to the Copy and Pasting into other apps.

4. Holding down "Shift" and dragging corner points does not resize the same way as with 1.2.

That isn't a bug.. you can use the green resizers (click on object twice) for that now. We might change that behavior though.

5. If you have several overlapping objects, copying any of them will include the overlapping parts of the surrounding objects.

Thanks we will look into that one

Thanks for all your great help.

Re:Comic Life 1.3 Beta - 2006/09/14 19:53 No problem!
------------------------------
1. Ah, I see it now, Nice

4. Ok, I see the Green resizers. It looks like for styled text objects that the Blue modifiers trump the Green resizers. If you drag "lettering" onto the page and click to get the Green resizers, you can only click on the ones on the left and right as the others are obscured by the Blue modifiers. Doesn't affect balloons as bad.
------------------------------

Now that I'm paying more attention to those interface elements, I notice that when you zoom in, the blue and green elements stay normal sized, the purple rotators, yellow highlighters, and green grabby things for balloons get larger as you zoom in.

This might be why using the purple rotator is a little hit-miss. Rotating's easy to do when you're zoomed out, but zoomed in, the icon gets bigger and the whole thing doesn't activate rotating (have to click the right edge).

Text balloons don't have rotator widgets (like the earlier versions). I was thinking about how it's been implemented for iWork, (holding down Command causes the cursor to change to a rotator one). Maybe holding down command could give a mode switch for rotating objects (show the rotator)?

Love the location of the "add a tail" widget, right where I'd expect it to be, but it might be a tad too sensitive. In some cases, I can be one icon's width away from it and still accidentally create another tail. Works better for when I'm zoomed in but still adds a tail without actually clicking the icon.

The "Undo List" appears to include some items that don't give visual feedback. Add a tail to a balloon, click off to deselect, click on again and click off again. Doing Undo sends it back through the series of selects and deselects and it takes 4 undo's to finally undo the added tail. Just realized the earlier version does this too

Re:Comic Life 1.3 Beta - 2006/09/14 20:01 When working zoomed-in or with a large canvas, I'd like to be able to drag a graphic to a new area. Clicking an object and dragging to the edges does not cause scroll me over the page. The old version didn't do this either, so I guess this is more of a feature request

Re:Comic Life 1.3 Beta - 2006/09/14 20:08 When zoomed in, it appears that the rollover action isn't set until you click the canvas or an object. For example. create some new lettering. Zoom in 5 times. Click the canvas. Now, roll over the lettering. You'll see the yellow highlighters. Now scroll the window slightly. Without clicking roll over the lettering. It doesn't highlight. Rolling over where the lettering USED to be DOES highlight. Clicking the canvas will reset the action.

Re:Comic Life 1.3 Beta - 2006/09/15 00:26 Oh WOW, just found the multiple balloon feature. Now that's what I call the "Apple way". If you THINK something should work a certain way, just try it and see what happens!

Now, two feature requests for balloons. One, some way to control the amount of curve of the tail. This would be used to cover situations where you don't want the tail to cross some interesting or important part of the background image. You could still leave the tail pointing to the mouth, and just curve the rest of it so as not to obscure anything.

Secondly, enable me to somehow change one balloon type into another. If I decide afterwards that the character should have said something with their inside voice, I won't have to copy and paste text, just change the balloon type.
