Re:RAX levels? - 2006/12/09 05:11
nice to hear from you robert. that is a good question......
so let's start with do you mean that if i put channel 1 all the way up it is at 0 for the track, then i would need to raise the master fader so that it was at 0 as well, then i would be at 0db?
i'm going to compare the headroom on the faders in DP, Logic and anything else that i can verify.
my first thought would be to put some kind of scale next to the fader or in the meter portion so that we could track the level numerically. put 0 near the top leaving some headroom (this is the tricky part). what is normal? if there is a normal........
and i guess the same treatment could be applied to the master fader as well.
---------
SO i have just tested the difference between the Logic output and the RAX output. it is 12db lower on the RAX output as tested with my dorrough meters.
if you leave your faders in the default position and call that 0db then crank up the output in the code of RAX by 12db that would get us back to the same level as in Logic and leave us whatever the headroom is on the individual track fader to the top. my guess is that it is +6db but i would have to test it
i have many other suggestions to make it a more one trick pony host but that may be for another time.
________
robert, i'd love to sign on as a beta tester with you to help flush this stuff out. i can see a bunch of VSL VI guys using RAX as some of us are. thanks
