recovery of rax recording after crash - 2006/10/16 22:08 the audio unit Augustus Loop quit after 20 minutes of use because it is not registered, and it stopped my recording, and inside my Rax Recordings folder is the 260mb .aiff, but i cant get anything to play it. it says its a big file though so i thought there has to be a way to get a program to see inside it...

this image is what it looks like when i try to open the .aiff with Pro Tools

this recording is extremely important to me and any help anyone out there can give me is greatly appreciated!!

i posted this in the Expert Sleepers forums and this is what someone responded with:

>>You might want to talk to the guys who wrote Rax (who are nice people).

I imagine what has happened is that Rax relies on going back to the file header at the end of the recording and filling in the total length, once it knows the length (i.e. once you've finished recording). So you could probably prod one number in the file and it would all be fine.

Quite how you do that if you're not a programmer is a different question.<<

Re:recovery of rax recording after crash - 2006/10/23 22:25 Sorry to hear about the problem you are having.

Did you stop recording cleanly? If so, it should be a good file.

The only thing I can suggest is try opening it with an audio editor? Something like Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
If it opens you should be able to resave the file...

Let me know how you go
