Comic Life Magiq 1.0.2.1 update released
A free update for Comic Life Magiq is available for all users.

Identical to 1.0.2c in all but version number, which has been changed to ensure 1.0.2 users are made aware of the 1.0.2c update via the menu: Comic Life Magiq > Check for Updates...

This 1.0.2.1 update is recommended for all 1.0.2 users and fixes a serious saving issue introduced in 1.0.2 that caused images to be left out of the document.

Comic Life needs SNAG_IT features - 2006/10/31 00:44 Comic Life is a great product, but it would be the best if it had features like Snag-It by Techsmith:

1. Screen Capture then annotate
2. Image ("symbol") library support
3. Export annotated images to different formats
4. More drawing tools

Keep up the good work.

Re:Comic Life needs SNAG_IT features - 2006/10/31 06:52 Thanks for you suggestions; those are some things that we have considered in the past. Could you please explain how you would use the screen capture and annotations in Comic Life?

#2. There are many great built-in symbols in the fonts included in Mac OS X. Here's how to use them:
1. Go to system Preferences, select the 'International' control (under Personal)
2. In the 'Input Menu' tab makes sure Character Palette is checked.
3. You should have a little flag next to the time in your menu bar..
4. Click on it and select 'Show Character Palette"
5. Drag some Special Effects Text ("Lettering") into your comic. The input box appears.
6. You can now drag a symbol from the character palette to the text input box!
This gives you access to hearts, arrows, office symbols etc., even the pirate sign!

#3 - How does this differ from our current Export to Image(s)?

Thanks.

Re:Comic Life needs SNAG_IT features - 2006/11/02 13:19 I use Snag_It's screen capture to grab parts of web pages, PDFs, images, or toolbars for use in mockups, documentation, and in "freehand" drawings.

One of the best features is the ability to grab a part of a screen or web page, edit it, and save it as an editable document (.snag) or as an image type (.JPG, GIF, or Flash movie.)

Say there's a website typo. Snag the page, use the highlighter tool to annotate the page, and instantly email it to the web team.

The predefined annotation symbols make it fast easy to build "how tos" and other documents.

Also, the freeform editor allows one to create graphics from scratch. I've used it as a poor man's Visio or Illustrator to cook up line drawings, etc.

Finally, the ability to create Flash movies with hyperlinks or pop-up text (to explain a part of an image or drawing) is great.

Comic Life has 1/2 of the functions of Snag-it already. To do Snag-It functions, one has to use Grab, Comic Life, and other tools together.

Try Snag-it and you'll see what I mean. CL could easily outdo it and capture E-learning and documentation marketshare, in addition to family photo annotations.

Re:Comic Life needs SNAG_IT features - 2006/11/03 10:04 Thanks Michael for the suggestions. I have added your ideas to our "ideas list" and hopefully we can do something that fulfills what you require - in a future update.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Cheers.
