Re:Future of Rax and Wormhole2 - 2007/08/12 03:10 I just subscribed to Sound on SOund and reading the April 2007 issue came across the recommendation for your product, Wormhole II.

I would buy it!

Your announcement was months before the article - I wonder why the writer didn;t know...

Re:Future of Rax and Wormhole2 - 2007/08/16 05:02 This is Great News... I can't wait to hear about who the buyer is going to be. I hope with this sale that the midi implementation expands but we can wait and see...

RAX: those GUI's for the Apple plugins are gorgeous and I wants them! I wants them to be able to use in other AU apps, godammit! Chris, make it so!

I love that interface too!!
Is possible to do that?
Those GUI make Apple plugins very simple to use and very cool-looking!

I guess you're referring to my Performer Notes feature. Well, as you can imagine I didn't intend to lead anyone astray, and the whole situation has been pretty embarrassing. To sum it up, Plasq gave me copies of Rax and Wormhole as I'd been planning the 'Network' topics for a while. When the Rax feature was written the product was current - no hint that it would be withdrawn. Then, after I'd written the Wormhole feature Plasq announced the withdrawal of the products on the day of my submission deadline! It was too late to change anything, and in any case it was decided to let the feature go ahead in case there was a quick change of ownership and the software remained available from another developer. Obviously (and unfortunately) that has proved not to be the case.

I'm as sorry as anyone that Plasq isn't continuing Rax and WH, but business is business and I'm sure they didn't take the decision lightly, or without considering the impact it would have on existing and prospective owners. As I wrote in a later edition of the mag, the bad timing of the Performer Notes features was bordering on the ludicrous! But it was entirely unintentional.

Re:Future of Rax and Wormhole2 - 2007/08/21 07:17 Hi Robin,

As a former tech writer (Keyboard, Electronic Musician...), I can imagine that you were indeed embarrassed by Plasq's decision. Perhaps if they announced it AFTER they sold it, or gave a decently long time from the announcement to the end, others wouldn't be left feeling foolish.

I'm in the midst of a major studio upgrade and subscribed to read your article (which works flawlessly in describing the setup, I might add).

Now I'm set back - should I keep looking for a way to use my Ethernet connections, or just buy audio interfaces for all my new gear?

Do you know of another way to do this? I read an article about using AU Lab (part of Mac OS), but it doesn't seem to permit the main Mac to use its audio card - you have to set the Mac as a whole to use the AU Lab method of receiving/sending audio. (Or am I wrong?)

By the way, Robin, thanks for answering me - I'm sure you've had a LOT of correspondence to complete regarding this matter!

Re:Future of Rax and Wormhole2 - 2007/08/22 00:50 Look I don't mean to be a butt head. But please do something, sell or give these to the community as a whole to develop.

It seems all that I have read people would like to use your programs because they are effective at what they accomplish.

But to leave people hanging (unless I missed the message in this string that told us what you decided you were going to do?) please open it up to the community or let us know what is going to happen.

Thank you for your other awesome software of which some I own.

Let us, the community who supports your other great software, know what the definitive answer is going to be.

Thank you and have a great day!
