Beware Upgrade Comic Life Deluxe - 2007/02/03 13:36 I just upgrade to the newest version and already there is a MAJOR BUG!

Here's what happened after upgrading.

It no longer shows the title of my comics. Poof, they just disappeared. Even in the title bar in the document window indicates this is an unsaved document.

I only upgraded because I thought maybe it would fix the previous bugs.

Such as when I've noticed after uploading that there was an error, and I go back and correct it and resave it, upload it again and realize the mistake wasn't corrected afterall.
I experienced this problem right before I upgraded.
I quit the program and restarted to find out if that would help and discovered the newest version.

ARRRRRGH!!!

Anyone know what I should do NOW?!?

Re:Beware Upgrade Comic Life Deluxe - 2007/02/03 20:22 MagickMuffin,

What you describe is not a bug. We have changed the file format in 1.3 from a .comic document to a .comicdoc document. Meaning you will have to resave the old .comic file which will then create the new and improved .comicdoc file.

We have done it this way - so it makes it obvious you haven't resaved it in the new 1.3 format.

1.3.1 should fix the other issue you were having also.

Hope this helps.

Re:Beware Upgrade Comic Life Deluxe - 2007/02/04 05:55 Thanks for your support

I don't understand why you would go to soooo much trouble to upgrade, only to casue your end users to have to go back and rename ALL the files (Docs) that were created in your previous versions.

I did like you said and went and rename/resaved the file and it still didn't FIX THE BUG (when a program goes from workable to not-so-much, then it is considered a bug!!!

More info to consider:
When I open up a pre existing file in the thumbnails you can see my title/header, but when I click on the file the title is missing. This isn't happening to all the files, even within one doc. I generally have 10 pages per document. So, some of the tiles show up some don't.

Oh well, I guess I can trash this version and go back to the last version.

Before I do this should I trash my prefs?

I have been using Comic Life since Oct. '05. And I use it everday for my blog. I LOVE Comic Life Deluxe, really I do. That being said there are quite a few problems I have experienced in all the versions I have worked with, Spinny Ball syndrome is the most annoying

Sorry to be so cranky, but I get frustrated and have to vent.
However, I could prove to be an excellent beta tester.
So, if you need me to send you any files let me know!

Peace,
MagickMuffin

Re:Beware Upgrade Comic Life Deluxe - 2007/03/09 02:25 I can't load the old .comic file in so that I can resave as a new .comicdoc.
I'm going with the idea thats still a bug unless some other migration procedure is available??

Re:Beware Upgrade Comic Life Deluxe - 2007/03/11 21:57 someone else experienced a problem with the upgrade.

Since no one got back to me, I trashed the new version and went back to my last version.
Which also has quite a few kinks as well. However, I still force myself to struggle through hours of production on a daily basis going on 2 1/2 years.
Ah well, what's the famous saying "One must suffer for one's art."

Good Luck with your problem.
