Hello and thanks for creating this program for Windows.

You're welcome!

I typed all this up and it didn't like my Spam Code thing and when I went back like it said, it had deleted everything I typed. Seriously bad.

Using Firefox? Sorry about that - it doesn't happen on Safari -- we are continually tweaking this...

When you first use the Explorer view it lists C:, Desktop, Documents & Settings but when you choose one of those options, all other previously selectable options disappear. With no navigation available, this is bad. This is an expansion of the "no other drives listed" bug.

Yes, we plan to fix this by making the high level folder show the contents of My Computer.

The Explorer view seems to be Thumbnail view only. This is OK although a Detail View would be nice. Either way, you really need to add in some tool-tips so that when you mouse over the thumbnails, it tells you the full file name. If you have lots of similarly named assets, this view is currently difficult to use.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Please add some Right-Click functionality in the Explorer View. Being able to Copy, Paste, Create New Folder and especially Delete would be very useful.

I will put it forward to the plasq crew, but I think it would cause other issues like "kids accidently deleting your favorite photo" type problems. They aren't fun for anybody.

No TGA or PSD file type support, although this may be intentional.

Thank you. I will look into that.

When dragging in a picture from the Explorer view, the picture is quite blurry compared to viewing it outside of Comic Life .... The same quality problems were visible when exporting to image a finished comic.

Could you please email the sample files, and the output to clwinbeta@plasq.com so I can test them for myself please? Thanks for your help on this one.

When dragging in pictures from the Explorer View or from My Computer the image inside Comic Life seems to be either zoomed in or zoomed out but never the original size. This seems to be fixable by either zooming in or out, but importing as it's natural size and letting us resize would be much preferred.

We plan to add the ability to drop in images at 1:1 in the future. Currently, the images are scaled down.

The Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons need a field inbetween them that lists the zoom percentage amount. If you are working with pictures that may be different source sizes, we need to easily be able to know that we are zooming them all the same way.

The Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons control the zooming of the page, this doesn't affect the source sizes in any way... unless I have misunderstood what you mean?

Same goes for the Bigger and Smaller buttons. Please add a field between them that shows the current font size so there is no guessing when just eyeballing the project.

You can click the Fonts icon in the top right, and easily control the font in pt form.

There doesn't seem to be any support for SHIFT or CTRL click selecting of assets in the project. I'd like to be able to CTRL-click all the speech balloons for one character and change the Style, Font, Size, etc all at once.

That is correct - currently styles are managed on a per element basis. We may look at changing that in the future.

You can't use the mouse to drag a window around multiple speech balloons unless you aren't using a background as that just ends up moving the background.

Depends what you are using as the background. If you are using, one of the style backgrounds you can definitely use mouse-drag to select all and move around. If you are using a panel as a background, you can always deselect the panel by pressing Alt and clicking on the panel.

Once I finished my first comic I realized I needed to move it all over to fit inside the white project frame ... I then proceeded to use the arrow keys (and then Shift+arrow keys to speed it up) to move everythig to the right and up a little ... all the speech ballons were all way off from where they started ... If possible, please fix the keyboard controls. I use them all the time in other graphics programs to have finer control over placement.

Thanks for that - it is the same on the Mac version. I will see if we can get that fixed. Not sure on time frame though.

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! Feel free to make smaller posts - and write them up as you find them

Thanks again.

Re:Download Comic Life Windows beta - 2007/05/11 02:14 I have just downloaded + installed comic life on xp with sp2 installed, but when i open it an error message saying 'missing shortcut' pops up. I have unistalled and reinstalled but it still happens. Unfortunately it is behind the comic life icon when it comes up so i can't get any more details.
After closing the error message in task manager the program opens but then closes automatically...
Any thoughts? i would love to get this working on my computer!

Re:Download Comic Life Windows beta - 2007/05/11 12:27 Firstly thank you for the Windows version of this outstanding software. I am having sooo much fun, even with the Beta Version.

Other than known issues I have noted that when output comic to HTML/Web page version some of the text in speech bubbles is cut off. Text either gets bigger than bubble or bubble reduces in size, cutting off end of sentence.

Hope that make sense...Thanks again, great work.

I have noticed this happens in output to image(s) as well. It takes a bit of guess work to get your boxes the right size so that they don't have words cut out off when exported.

Re:Download Comic Life Windows beta - 2007/05/13 21:56 Hello!!
I have soem problems:
1) sometimes the program crashes while i'm using it..

2)When i try to drag and drop two images in the same panel,i lose the first one because the other is resized...
It would be cool if i could drag a foreground image (masked with an alpha channel, for example,or keyed with an opacity 0% colour) onto a background image, within teh same panel..this way i could drawing characters and landscapes separately and i could unite them later

Thank you so much!
