Dropping Sustain Pedal Events - 2007/07/14 15:10 Simple test setup.

I have an M-Audio Keystation Pro keyboard with 4 programmable zones. In the default configuration with all 4 zones enabled, midi channels 1-4 all are sent exactly the same events.

Created a RAX track for channel 1 with a TruePiano VI and a second track for channel 2 with a Native Instruments B4 Organ patch.

Step on the sustain pedal and the midi activity on channel 2 lights totally reliably in sync with pedal up and pedal down. Channel 1 only lights most of the time. They should be lighting in lock step.

With pedal up and down events getting dropped on the piano, I'm getting odd notes hanging on too long, or failing to sustain. The organ, OTOH, is working perfectly.

Strangely, adding two more tracks exhibits the same problem. For some reason, only the organ on midi channel 2 is reliably getting pedal events. The other tracks only sometimes.

Rax 2.02, Intel Mac Pro, latest 10.4.10 software. I have eliminated the TruePianos and controller as the culprit by setting up a similar setup in DigitalPerformer and all events are delivered correctly. It is only sustain pedal events that are a problem.

Re:Dropping Sustain Pedal Events - 2007/07/16 08:45 GuitarHero,

I can't seem to replicate your problem here. This might take a bit more detective work.

Can you please download MIDI monitor, a free MIDI utility from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9950

This will let us confirm that there is nothing weird happening with the midi - when you press sustain, there should be a sustain message appear on all the channels your splits are broadcasting on. Also note the times the message received - should be pretty much the same. Also check the same happens on sustain pedal up.

You can copy and paste the messages from MIDI monitor into this forum.

Hopefully we can sort this out soon for you!

Re:Dropping Sustain Pedal Events - 2007/07/17 05:24 Midi events are generated correctly from the keyboard. But, again, RAX midi activity lights don't act the same on both tracks.

Re:Dropping Sustain Pedal Events - 2007/07/19 23:50 BTW, in case it is an odd interaction with TruePianos/RAX, you can download a demo version at http://truepianos.com (really great piano that is easy on the cpu).
