Re:Inconsistent output image quality - 2008/01/08 05:02
I am getting the same thing myself with the trial and a friend's full version.
I'm lucky I haven't spent money on this!
The one main reason for me to get this over something like Comic Book Creator is because it can export at higher resolutions. But what's the use of that if the export function produces below quality images.
I have a range of 1600 x 1200 JPG images that I place into a page template and resize in a frame, nothing past the original resolution. On the worksheet, the images look as they should. When it's time to export the page into a BMP image at 96 or 150 dpi, the image result is markedly lower than it should be. It looks slightly blurred and pixelated. Toggling the WYSIWYG option for filtering makes no difference whatsoever, neither does restarting the application. All images are exported to this poorer quality with no exceptions.
This is really disappointing. I've found nothing on the market that I can really use as a simple comic page layout publisher. As it stands, what I'll do is publish blank templates, speech bubbles and sound effects from Comic Life into a "template" folder. Then I'll load them into Photoshop and do my editing there where I know I won't lose image quality.
It's a shame because it looks like exactly what I'm after, except it cannot produce the quality output I need. If this is fixed so Comic Life actually does as claimed, I would think about buying the full version. I can't really recommmend Windows Comic Life to others as it stands now.
