Comic Life packs a lot of 'Brawn'!
Cranium Comics has recently launched their first four color comic, Brawn #1.

"I used Comic Life on my Mac exclusively to lay out the storyboards, then later when I created and colored all 24 pages of the issue," recounted Anthony Rezendes, the owner of Cranium Comics and co-creator of Brawn.

The comic 'Brawn' focuses on a dockworker named Sam Ross who was reborn as the hero "Brawn" after he was nearly killed in a drunk driving accident.

"Being an illustrator, it saved me quite a bit of time from having to lay all the text bubbles out manually. It made the process of actually creating the comic that much more enjoyable," Mr. Rezendes added.

We think this comic is great! So check out 'Brawn' on the Cranium Comics site or read the first 5 pages on our Comic Life gallery.

Will this feature ever be available... - 2008/01/20 07:35 Hi All,

Does anyone know if there will ever be a feature in Doozla where you can export directly to Comic Life without going through all the hassle that you have to at the moment (i.e. opening it in another program like preview/gimp/photoshop and then saving it as a jpeg, etc.). I love the drawing program so far, but I would love it even more if I could send my sketch directly to Comic Life to add captions to it or whatnot. Or will there ever be a feature where you can save your Doolza file as an .svg so it can be opened in a true vector graphics program (illustrator/inkscape)? It says that Doozla is a vector drawing program but the files save as .doozla or something like that. I have a feeling that won't play nicely with my vector programs. I guess what I ultimately wish for would be if I could choose the file type that I would like to save it as. Right now it only saves as .doozla and I would like the option to save it as .svg, jpeg, bitmap or just anything. I just wish it had options as far as saving your sketches. I'll buy you guys a taco if you add that feature in for all of us!

Re:Will this feature ever be available.. - 2008/01/20 20:16 There's a pretty good workaround for this now. Just take the Doozla file and change the extension from .doozla to .skitch. When you double click the .skitch file, it'll open up in Skitch and you have all the export options available including a really nice .svg export.

To get rid of the white background, you can either use the .svg export OR change the current color's opacity to zero and then shift click in the color well.

It's a wonderfully useful program for doing screenshots and much more.

Re:Will this feature ever be available.. - 2008/01/21 02:54 Awesome, I'll have to check it out. I was just under the impression that after you signed up, you had to wait for some kind of invitation before you could be a part of the beta, and I'm not big on waiting for something that should be immediate, so that's why I'd passed on it so far. But I've been wanting to check it out, so if there's no waiting anymore... then I know what I'll be downloading today

Re:Will this feature ever be available.. - 2008/01/21 04:09 Yeah, they went to an open Public Beta a little while ago so now you just grab and go! I've played with this Doozla/Skitch thing a little this morning and it's really neat.
