John Hazard Visitor	Comic Life comics won't open in Magiq!!! - 2008/05/09 00:27 I just upgraded to Magiq. Very exciting, I thought, I've been really anticipating this upgrade- But to my horror, all my old comics, about a year and a half of comics done in the previous version, WILL NOT OPEN IN MAGIQ!!! Please tell me there is a way to fix this. I rely on Comic Life EVERY WEEK to put out my newspaper strip (which can be seen on my website under "schmoozeblog") and I was hoping to do way more with Magiq so I need to get this fixed a.s.a.p. Thanks for contacting us and for purchasing Comic Life Magiq.

Comic Life Magiq is a completely new application and shares little in common with Comic Life and least of all in the way it handles its internal data. We're thinking of providing an importer in a future update.

If a feature of this kind is important to you please let us know in these forums.

Very sorry for the inconvenience - but you may still use your previous Comic Life version to open your old comic files.

Suspect I’ll just stick with Comic Life as I didn’t really need all the extra “bells and whistles” (too much choice) but bought it anyway to reward you for your great work on the original application.

The other annoyance is that somehow, when I click on .comicdoc files, it tries to open them with Magiq, even though the default is standard Comic Life.

An upgrade of comic life (or more bells and whistles) was what i expected to pay for. Now all I've got is unuseable comics plus a useless WATER MARK, gummin up the works. I am slightly miffed and even a little angry!!!

Comic Life Magiq should *not* open Comic Life documents when you double click on them. This was a problem with very early betas - so perhaps you have one of them sitting around? We cannot replicate that problem here.. but want to solve this for you!

In Mac OS, you can always open a document in the application of choice by dragging the document/file to the applications icon in the dock. Alternatively, right-click (or control-click) and select the application of choice from the "Open with >" option.

Thanks for your support - it means a lot to us!
If you want, you can always close the Details (left side) section in Comic Life Magiq and not even see any of the details. This can be a nice way to 'keep things simple'. There are a few features, like the Auto-snip tool for cutting out images that I think will prove themselves invaluable over time.. we'd love to know what you find, or don't find useful in Comic Life Magiq.
