Comic Life packs a lot of 'Brawn'!
Cranium Comics has recently launched their first four color comic, Brawn #1.

"I used Comic Life on my Mac exclusively to lay out the storyboards, then later when I created and colored all 24 pages of the issue," recounted Anthony Rezendes, the owner of Cranium Comics and co-creator of Brawn.

The comic 'Brawn' focuses on a dockworker named Sam Ross who was reborn as the hero "Brawn" after he was nearly killed in a drunk driving accident.

"Being an illustrator, it saved me quite a bit of time from having to lay all the text bubbles out manually. It made the process of actually creating the comic that much more enjoyable," Mr. Rezendes added.

We think this comic is great! So check out 'Brawn' on the Cranium Comics site or read the first 5 pages on our Comic Life gallery.

Great Product - 2008/05/10 21:35 Great program but I think you may be limiting your user base. I work in the AEC industry and we often use digital photographs to illustrate issues encountered in the field. While Photoshop and other programs are great tools they often are not the quickest way to create documentation to illustrate a problem or concern regarding the project.

Comic Life Magic seems like a great tool to create a couple pages worth of photos to communicate ideas/concerns. It would be great if there were more "business/architectural" looking graphics to implement like arrows and dimension lines. While graphics like the "ZAP" and "POW" looking lettering are fun it may detract from the topic at hand.

Lot's of possibilities here. Nice Job!

Re:Great Product - 2008/05/11 00:18 Hi TJensen,

Thanks for the kind words and the tips. After googling, I'm still not sure what AEC stands for -- architecture and engineering?

We'd love to see some example images of what you have in mind

Many thanks!

Re:Great Product - 2008/05/11 10:47 Architecture, Engineering and Construction.

Previously when using Windows I used SnagIt to create some images with dimension lines (arrows or tick marks at either end of a line) and arrow shaped text boxes. These would be "one off" images and I would then have to assembly as a slide presentation or something else. The "graphic novel" format would work well to illustrate a series of related issues or assembly instructions.

Re:Great Product - 2008/05/13 08:38 Hi TJensen,

We're definitely looking into how-to templates, and we'd love to see any examples you've seen or created

In the meantime, you may find a the included arrow shapes may fit what you need. (I've created a few examples of how you might want to use them)

Re:Great Product - 2008/05/14 11:20 I missed those. I will definitely put them to use. I guess what I was looking for is something similar to what you have in Skitch where you can draw straight lines, shapes, text and arrows so that I could mark up the photos right from within CLM without having to open the photo in Skitch and then save and import them into CLM. Can you just add some of the drawing tools in Skitch to the paint function in CLM?

When I find some additional time I will send you some examples of what I have done previously.

Thanks.

Re:Great Product - 2008/05/14 11:22 Don't forget about skitch!

Though, having that type of functionality in CLM would be awesome, too!
