DJ Emulators - 2005/04/14 20:49
I do some DJ'ing and do some DV editing. Most software dj apps emulate DJ hardware and assume you want to use aiff files like CD tracks or records. This seems dumb concidering the placticity of code and its applications. But something like Soundtrack or Logic will synch aiff files over a number of tracks. Sequence the files on the tracks right and you have a playlist but cannot crossfade, crossover aiff files just overplay. FinalCut Pro does this with .mov files but includes transitions to effectively crossfade .mov files. Could you make an audio app like FCP which allows aiff files to be lined up like FCP lines up .mov files but enable audio transitions like FCP enables video transitions. You could have a monitor to phones to work on the upcoming tracks and set up and their crossfades/transitions.
I look at musolololololomomomo and Comic Life and wonder if you could do it? It could be a sort of DJ Garageband and would be awesome for theatre use of VJ use.
