Bobbie of Bobbie Tales uses Comic Life to illustrate examples of letter sounds in words. In the two-page comic below she emphasizes the schwa (ə) sound formed by the letter A. It’s more fun than a sound chart, wouldn’t you say?
You can create comics like this for your class as well. If want to turn them into worksheets all you have to do is leave some of the balloons blank and have students fill in words with the schwa sound. Or if you’re teaching multiple sounds, you can have students correctly identify which sounds appear in which words.
Happy Creating!
